NYC: Bloomberg plans to tax plastic bags 21266
...in a move intended to both conserve resources and pad the coffers, Mr. Bloomberg said the city planned to charge customers a nickel for each plastic bag they use at every store, whether it be a bodega, a Barnes & Noble or a Balduccis. Aides said they were working out details of the proposal.

Police chase car and officer's gun from Newark to Brooklyn 17608
A Newark police officer dropped his gun inside a suspect's car during a shootout tonight, then chased the injured driver into Brooklyn, where the suspect crashed on trendy "restaurant row" in the Boerum Hill neighborhood, according to police.
