This is called the Stroop Effect, and while it is true that language is generally lateralized to the left hemisphere, I'm not sure if color perception (or more importantly, color naming) is lateralized to the right hemisphere. This might be the left brain fighting with itself, so to speak.

The effect obviously vanishes if you cant read (or can't read English (very well)).

Ohhkay, I keep wanting to say the other side of the color wheel when I get hung up... but it's for the color. So if the word said red, and was colored blue I would say yellow. WTF.
