They are amazing insects WE NEED. Maybe you haven't read the news lately. Another sad example of the chemical response to learned fear.
Perhaps you are allergic or someone close to you is, can't take chances then. But really, with a comb like that they had been there for many weeks or months and unless you have had a rash of stingings, not bothering anyone. Unlike us.
That dead hive is one of the saddest images I have ever seen with respect to Bees. FYI, bee keepers will come and take arrant Bee colonies from you, for free many times. With the huge die off of Honey Bees, which these were it would seem, that would have been a better solution. Not only is the valuable honey contaminated, pollination of a huge number of plants will not happen from this point. A living hive is worth hundreds of dollars.

The colony probably came from a domestic hive not far away.
BTW, if the queen flew away, the survivors will find her I hope.
